About

My name is Kath D. I am an illustrator, designer and wannabe comic writer, based in Melbourne, Australia. Here I Am is a short comic book I made to read to my daughter about how she came to be. She was an AI baby and has two mums.
I drew the comic on Adobe Illustrator and shaded/coloured it using Corel Painter. I would like to be able to say that I hand lettered the whole comic but actually I used a great internet based tool called YourFonts, that lets you make your handwriting into a font. (I’m NOT on their reseller program by the way)
Everything I know about writing comics I learnt from reading the work of her awesomeness, Ms Alison Bechdel.

The comic is intended for 3 – 7 year olds.

I hope you and your children enjoy it.

Hi Kath, your book is fabulous. I’ve been trying to purchase this book but have not been able to find any bookshop or online who sells this. Not even Amazon. I’m sure The Feminist Bookshop in Lilyfield, Sydney had a copy a long time ago however the bookshop closed down a couple of years ago. Do you have a copy that I may purchase from you?

    Hi Jo,
Thanks so much for your feedback. Also sorry to take so long to get back to you. I don’t check this site very often at the moment.

I have run out of copies of this comic for now and am not sure if I will be printing more.

There were a few shops that were selling them for a while but I don’t think anyone has any left.

I will get in touch with you if copies become available. I would like to rework it in colour and in a more kids bookish format but I’m not sure when that will happen.
    Cheers Kath
